This is a great accommodation if you're looking for an affordable place to stay for a short time. Keep in mind the rooms above the inn are small (at least the room I was in) in case you have a lot of oversized luggage for whatever reason. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact the night I was going to check in, they had a very loud heavy metal concert going on inside, and you have to check in at the bar counter. I ended up going back to Anchorage to wait out the concert (and the clerk outside thankfully gave me the rough end time) so I didn't have to risk damaging my ears. I personally didn't mind waiting it out, but you may not have that kind of flexibility. Might be worthwhile to call ahead regarding events at the bar if you choose this place.

I stayed at the Brown Bear for a week. The room was quite clean and comfortable with private bath, refrigerator, microwave and comfortable bed. The saloon owner, staff, and patrons are friendly and welcoming. The food is good and there's a great selection of beer. Can't beat the price for the value delivered. Looking forward to returning again and again.

Definitely recommend! Great scenery and vibes! Rooms are a bit dated but exactly as described. Perfect for an overnight stay. Cozy, clean, and hot shower!

Absolutely love the Brown Bear Saloon! The bar has a cozy, local vibe and was thoroughly decorated for the holidays. The bartender was kind and attentive and made us a great meal; the burgers are real hand-pressed burger, not a pre-made frozen patty, and the sweet potato fries looked hand-cut and were perfectly crispy. My husband had the onion rings with his burger and thought they were awesome too. I'm so glad we stopped in, this is a new favorite spot for us.

It's a bed, toilet, and a hot shower. As long as your expectations are tempered, this place will be fine for a night or two. It's a great location between Anchorage and Seward and great price per night as opposed to staying in the city.

This is a very basic no frills saloon and motel. The access to the room is a bit sketchy. Outdoor rickety stairs. Small hallway. Small room. But the room itself was fine. It has th essentials and the bed was clean and comfortable. For the price it was a great deal given how expensive Anchorage is. The food options in the saloon aren't great especially for a vegetarian. They were out of black bean burger and only had cheese pizza and pretzels.

Honestly, this place feels like home. I am lucky and privileged to call the staff friends and community my home. As a born and raised Alaskan I would recommend. You’re lucky to get time and an excellent experience here.

This is a fantastic stay for the price. Rooms are cozy and the view from the hotel is gorgeous. The bartender/owner/front desk is super friendly and the bar itself has a great lively environment. Only complaint is internet isn’t very strong, you can get by for most applications, I just wouldn’t try to work remote here. All in all awesome stay
